Dama Dama


The Anatolian Dama dama, which is also the symbol of Anatolia Safari, was one of the most liked animals which were hunted by the oldest civilizations of Anatolia. So much that the  Hittites admired this wild species as their symbol of power. On account of heavy hunting in the last centuries, the Anatolian Dama dama was
threatened with extinction, so that it was put under preservation for more than 70 years. The trophies of Anatolian Dama dama, hunted during 2004-2005 with restricted licences, had enormous sizes and reached a weight up to 14,5 kg. The Dama dama of Anatolia can be found in Çatalan forest (Adana), Manavgat  and Akkaya (Muğla).








Monachus Monachus ( Mediterranean Seal )



This is the only seal that lives in the Black Sea and Mediterranean region and the population of them is very small. The most loved country by them is Turkey. They like terrestial regions, they locate on the land for resting and sleeping. They give birth on the land. They live both on the land and the sea. When they are in the sea they prefer living on the rocks, they eat all kinds of fish of fish and octopus. They aren't loved by fishermen because they harm their fishbook. They are under international protection. They live mosty in Foça, Antalya and Muğla. They were last seen in Black Sea region in 1987 in Karadeniz Ereğli. As they were terminated by fishermen they are about to extinct.







Lynx



The Anatolian leopard was first describedon the basis of a signle specimen in the extreme west of Asia Minor,near İzmir in Turkey.In eastern Turkey,their range converges with the range of Caucasian leopards. Anatolian leopards once prowled the forest and hill habitats of the Aegean, Mediterranean, and eastern Anatolian regions. As the hunt of Felidae is against law they are hunt secretly. They can be seen in Artvin, Bitlis ,Hakkari and Bolu.
